Two nights are in the books... 18 pool teams have had goalies see some action already, but only nine of those teams have registered wins in the survivor pool. That means we have 16 teams still without wins and there are only three days left in the week to qualify for Week Two.
Only three games are on the go tonight and it looks like only five of six goalies will be in the pool tonight.
It's a Central Division clash in Nashville, as the Predators open their season against Blackhawks and it should be a pretty good clash of keepers tonight. Corey Crawford will get the nod for the Blackhawks, while it will be Pekka Rinne for the Predators, making for a match-up of two pool teams in need of wins for the week. Crawford will go for Marcin and Rinne will go for Stacey M., both yet to register their first W of the year.
The second half of a home-and-home series in the Battle of Alberta will go in Calgary tonight and it seems very likely that it will be the same goaltending match-up again tonight, with Cam Talbot taking on Brian Elliott. Talbot already gave Marcie her win for the week, while Derek B. needs to get his first win of the season. Can the Oilers sweep the Flames and play spoiler for Derek's hopes of continuing on in this mini-game?
In the late game tonight, the host Kings will begin life after learning the fate of their number one goalie, Jonathan Quick, as Jeff Zatkoff will likely get the call tonight against the visiting Flyers. The Flyers will be playing back-to-back nights and it is already out there that the Flyers will play both goalies in this back-to-back situation. Kicking off their season will be Michal Neuvirth, much to the delight of Tony, who needs the points, as his injury-riddled team is in need of all the help they can get.
