Habs Confirm Weise Loss

The upper-body injury that Montreal forward Dale Weise suffered at the Winter Classic has now been confirmed as an injury that will keep him out about 2-to-3 weeks.  The injury is believed to be a wrist injury after inadvertently blocking a teammate's shot in the offensive end, which is terribly unlucky.

Weise has been a huge bright spot for the Habs this season, having 11 goals and 20 points in 40 games this year, certainly looking at going over some of the projections that were set out for him in the off-season hockey pool magazines and posts.  As of Sunday morning, he was ranked 170th in pool scoring, up substantially from the 288th spot he finished in last season.

Of course, no one was going to take a flyer on him at the initial draft of the year, but he was a Waiver Draft pick-up for Stacey M., who was getting some reasonable return on him, 5 points in 12 games, since being activated.  He has been a plus player for her team since the Waiver Draft, since she dropped injured Hurricanes forward Nathan Gerbe to get him.

The addition of Weise has helped her side, since the Waiver Draft, moving up from 11th place to 9th, since the end of Week Nine.
