Morning Player Notes in the Draft (Jan 1)
A notable scratch from the New Year's Eve game between the Avalanche and the Blackhawks, as Colorado was without one of their top defensemen in Tyson Barrie. He was reportedly dealing with a flu bug, which kept him out and he is currently listed as day-to-day for the time being.
Mike will start the New Year in 25th place in the standings, only 3 points back of Wes and 17 points up on John R., so there only seems to be up. Oh, but his team is only 2 points up on the current Basement Dweller with three days left to play.
St. Louis Blues sniper Vladimir Tarasenko was also dealing with an illness on Thursday night, which kept him out of the game against the Wild. The Blues must have missed him, dropping that game, 3-1, at home, to the visitors from Minnesota. He was a late scratch on Thursday, but I would imagine he'll be in the lineup on Saturday.
The New Year starting position is going to be a stat today, as Tony starts 2016 in 21st place in the standings. His team has struggled all of 2015, really failing to get off the ground, hovering in the same spot all year. Where will his team's boost come from?
