Morning Player Notes in the Draft (Jan 9)
On Wednesday night against Carolina, Canucks forward Jannik Hansen left the game with an upper-body injury, not to return, and as much as it was thought to be a day-to-day issue, subsequent events, like the acquisition of Emerson Etem from the Rangers, has given the injured forward a little more time to get healthy, by having him placed on the Injured Reserve, retroactive to Wednesday night. Hansen's roster spot was needed for the new pick-up and the team likely needed to give him the time, so both are working because of the other, although the injury may have forced the hand of the team to do the deal.
Nevertheless, Brian is down a forward for this weekend and the first half of next week, at the very least, which will now hurt his 9th place team in the pool standings. Brian's team has fallen out of the money conversation group and into the group of 10 teams, a significant gap out of that conversation, but all in close proximity to each other. Going into Saturday, he's now 24 points out of the money.
