Race to the Sin Bin (Jan 5)

It was a good start for Wes in the PIM pool this week, as he leaped out to a slight lead in the weekly minute-collection, out with 9 PIM from the Avalanche/Kings game last night.

Tonight, Dale B. will get to give his rebuttal, as he'll have a couple of his muscle guys will be going tonight.  Scott Hartnell of the Blue Jackets will get a big game against the Minnesota Wild at home and he'll be out to defend.  He'll also have Antoine Roussel going for the Stars, as they invade Madison Square Garden to take on the Rangers, which could turn into a spirited affair.

The gap between Wes and Dale B. is 39 minutes to start the night, so there is some work that needs to be done in this race, if it is going to close.

Wes won't be short on some helping hands tonight, as the Nashville Predators are hosting the Winnipeg Jets tonight, so James Neal and Mike Ribeiro will get a good workout with some of the tough guys from the Jets, I'm sure.  Someone will head to the box for a high stick or some interference, I'd bet.  Let's not forget about Evgeni Malkin, as the Penguins host the Blackhawks tonight.

Derek & Dan still want to be considered for this race, but Tuesday night likely won't be a good night for them, unless Evander Kane, their leading PIM guy tonight, has a blowout against the Florida Panthers, as the Sabres are doing the hosting duties tonight.

The PIM leader going into tonight belongs to 5th place Dale C., which is Wayne Simmonds of the Flyers, but he would need 18 minutes for Dale to catch Brian in the race.  Brian will miss out on another game from Brad Marchand, as he deals with his 3-game suspension.

This pool could really use a big night from a team or two, just to get the juices flowing and the interest level rising.
