Morning Player Notes in the Draft (Jan 15)
After taking a stick to the face from teammate Kevin Shattenkirk, St. Louis forward Alexander Steen left the game against the Hurricanes and didn't return from getting repairs. The Blues play host to the Canadiens on Saturday night and it is expected that Steen should be okay for that game, assuming all goes well.
Steen is one of three players on Dale C.'s team to have 2 points so far this week, which has aided him to a 10-point week so far, keeping his side in 10th place in the standings, but still 22 points out of the money. The race is still pretty tight, so a good week can do his side a lot of good in the standings.
Another player leaving a game due to injury on Thursday night, this time in Winnipeg, as defenseman Dustin Byfuglien left the game with an upper-body injury after a collision with Predators forward Cody Bass. Byfuglien had already made his mark in the game with a couple of points, as the Jets hold on to beat the Preds, 5-4 in overtime. Byfuglien is reportedly traveling with the team to Minnesota for a game tonight, but there has been no update as to whether or not he'll play. He'll be day-to-day, if he doesn't.
The clubhouse leader for the Mover & Shaker after Thursday night, Eric's team, is having a pretty good run this week and Byfuglien's 2 points this week has helped his cause. Eric's team now sits in 7th place, but has a bit of a gap to make up, 9 points, to get up to 6th place and they've definitely got some momentum on their side.
