Noon Player Notes in the Draft (Jan 8)
The Montreal Canadiens announced on Friday morning that defenseman Jeff Petry was not participating in practice, due to a lower-body injury, which puts his availability for Saturday night's game, home to Pittsburgh, in doubt. Petry currently ranks 305th overall in pool scoring with 13 points in 40 games with the Habs this season and with some of their struggles of late, they could really use some more consistency in their lineup. We'll wait and see if he's actually scratched on the weekend and if so, he will be listed as out day-to-day.
Stacey M.'s team is certainly not out of the race this season, but it will need a healthy run to make up the 29 points between them and the money spots. Petry isn't a big contributor to the cause, but every little bit helps.
Hurricanes forward Victor Rask is considered to be a game-time decision for their game tonight against the Blue Jackets, as he is dealing with an undisclosed issue, which he may have suffered in the team's last game, Wednesday night in Vancouver. Rask did go back to the dressing room for a bit in that game against the Canucks, but did return to finish the game, but after practice on Friday, the shades of doubt were cast on his availability.
Tony's team is on the charge this week, tied for the weekly lead in points with 18, moving up on the top 20, now only 1 point back of 20th spot. Now that we're past the halfway point on the calendar, teams now have to start getting serious about points or hopefully finding a mini-game to finish the season with any interest.
