Well, I guess no one can say that they are surprised by this news, but
Sean Avery has been claimed off of re-entry waivers on Tuesday from Dallas. Avery has already been in the Rangers crosshairs, as he was already playing with their AHL affiliate for the past couple weeks. The Rangers will only have to pay half of Avery's salary, while Dallas is responsible for the other half, which does sting for the next three years.
Well, if he is really reformed, which the Rangers (and their fans... and Tortorella) hopes he is, he could be a valuable asset to the team going down the stretch. Of course, he can just as easily be a distraction to the rest of the team and be the anchor that sinks the Rangers for good. "You plays your cards and you takes your chances."
