The Oilers add a rental winger in Ales Kotalik from the Sabres for a second round pick, which is the going rate for a desired forward at the deadline today.

2nd Round Pick |
The Oilers made a clever little move to flip their second round pick that they got in the three-way deal earlier to acquire Ales Kotalik from the Sabres, just to add a little more speed and scoring punch to their line-up. The impending UFA should bring a couple more goals, that should help keep up with their Northwest Division rivals, who have managed to upgrade at the Deadline themselves.
Ales Kotalik is a Box 21 forward on the Sheet, but fails victim to a number of other good forward in the box and his move to Edmonton doesn't really mean he's going to be the better pick of the bunch. The Oilers should be excited, but Sheet owners really shouldn't be.
