On Wednesday, the Kings decided to clear some room for the rest of the season by sending Tom Preissing, a Box 10 defenseman, down to Manchester of the AHL. Preissing has been either a healthy scratch for an injured player over the last couple months and the Kings likely want to use the remainder of their games for their younger players.
The Penguins also cleared some room on their roster by sending Miroslav Satan down to the minors, after he cleared waivers on Wednesday night. Satan, a Draft pick of Larry's, has underachieved badly this season and the new acquisitions of Chris Kunitz and Bill Guerin saw to his demise in the roster.
The Capitals are one step closer to getting Brian Pothier back in their line-up, just before the playoffs roll around. Pothier, a Box 28 defenseman, has not recovered from post-concussion syndrome until now and he has now been cleared to play by doctors. Pothier will likely spend two weeks with the Hershey Bears of the AHL in order to get himself back up to NHL game shape. He's not likely a good pick-up for the rest of the year.
