The Boston Bruins consider themselves some real contenders now that they have acquired Mark Recchi from the Lightning. Recchi and a pick gets dealt to the Lightning for a couple of prospects who are pending restricted free agents.

The Bruins came up spades with this deal to acquire Mark Recchi from Tampa, as they have picked themselves up a veteran talent that can mix it up with some of the team's young players and guide the rest to a long-standing playoff run. The price for Boston doesn't seem to be very steep, as the two players that went have played as depth players this year, but were better suited in the AHL when the full squad is healthy.
In the Draft, Derek gets one of his players to go from a mediocre scoring team to a good scoring team and that's what you want out of one of your players at the deadline. Recchi has also been having a good season, which should multiply his production a little bit, since it wasn't like he was having a poor season and was moved to a better team. Recchi's good season will be accentuated by a better team and hopefully some more productive linemates. Positive move here.
