Stars Add Depth

The signings just keep on coming on Thursday, as the Dallas Stars have added some grit and a back-up goalie to their squads on the opening of the free agent frenzy. Both Adam Burish and Andrew Raycroft signed 2-year deals on the cheap with the Stars, Burish for a cap hit of $1.15 million and Raycroft for a hit of $650,000.

There isn't a great deal of fantasy value in either player, as Burish plays more of a physical game, while Raycroft will be the understudy to Kari Lehtonen in the coming season.  Raycroft does have a greater chance for points, as Lehtonen has not established himself as a 100% healthy goalie via game shape, so there is a shade of doubt there, giving Raycroft some extra potential for points in the 2011 season.

Salary CapDallas is another one of those teams fluctuating in which direction they want to build their team in and in saying that, you can see what they have signed, 18 players for $42.1 million. The Stars are on the low end of the spectrum in the NHL at this point in the off-season, still shy of the salary cap floor, but still have a number of roster spots to fill right now.
