Flyers' Elliott Out Long-Term
The Philadelphia Flyers announced on Tuesday that they will be without their number one goalie, Brian Elliott, for the next 5-to-6 weeks after having a procedure done to repair a core muscle injury. Elliott has already been out for about a couple weeks, before undergoing the surgery, so obviously this was a necessity to get back to 100% health for him.
The Flyers currently hold the third playoff spot in the Metropolitan Division and have their sights set on the playoffs and in order to get there and have some success, they'll need their number one guy to go.
The veteran netminder has been decent this season, currently ranked 75th overall in hockey pool scoring with 21 wins and 43 points in 41 appearances, but now that he will be missing a significant chunk of the third segment of the season, that ranking will certainly fall and quickly.
Stacey C.'s hockey pool team can't seem to catch a break this year, especially of late these days. Elliott becomes the fourth player on the Injured Reserve for his team and the third coming shortly after the last Waiver Draft has concluded. There is a real chance that his team could fall to last place, if these guys don't get healthy, as his team is only 23 points clear of last place and will not be leading the pool in projected games any time soon.
