Morning Player Notes in the Draft (Feb 1)

The Toronto blueline is offering up some real opportunity to their youthful depth these days, as the All-Star break didn't heal all of their wounds or bring everyone back to 100% health. Among those on the shelf for Wednesday night's game against the Islanders was Ron Hainsey, who was held out of the lineup with the flu. He's listed as day-to-day, so it doesn't sound like anything to get too excited about.

It's just another kick to the pants for Tony's team, which has really taken a good beating this week, although some of that bad news might not be as bad as we once feared.   His team is doing well, despite the injuries, staying in 6th place, only 2 points behind Grant for 5th, with 10 points already this week.

The struggles for Washington Capitals rookie Jakub Vrana continued through to Week Eighteen, as he opens the week as a healthy scratch, with the Capitals playing the Flyers last night.  The young Czech forward has 10 goals and 17 points in 48 games, but obviously the expectation was that he would be a contributing member of the team's top six and at the moment, he's having troubles sticking with the team's bottom six.

And this would be why Dale C. is dropping him at the end of this week.  Dale's team still holds some faint hope of a shot at the money, but he needs all of his forward slots working at optimum performance levels... or better.  After Wednesday night, his team sits 11th, 49 points out of the money.
