Noon Player Notes in the Draft (Feb 16)
Richard Panik and the Arizona Coyotes don't appear to be much of a compatible match these days, as Panik has not had a point in nearly a month and last night, he was a healthy scratch for the game against the Montreal Canadiens. Panik was acquired by the Coyotes in the trade that sent Anthony Duclair in the other direction to Chicago, to which the Blackhawks have seen some positives, but it hasn't quite been the same in the desert. We shall see what happens at the trade deadline, I suppose.
Tony's team has been finding some new struggles of late and his team is the only one in the top 10 that hasn't hit double digits in scoring this week and his team's 9 points is only 4 points clear of the Basement Dweller spot. There's a Panik pun in there somewhere, I'm sure!
The flu bug in the middle of winter is normally a brutal beast in the NHL and it chomped down on Detroit forward Andreas Athanasiou, forcing him from the Red Wings' lineup on Thursday night for the game in Tampa Bay. He's considered day-to-day and should be a possibility for the team's next game in Nashville on Saturday night.
Jeremy's team is currently holding down the Basement Dweller spot with those 5 points this week and Athanasiou was supposed to be one of those players that was supposed to keep him out of this predicament, since he was a Week Eighteen pickup. This hasn't happened yet and Jeremy's team continues to sink like a stone in the standings.
Speaking of flu bugs and that team in Nashville, Predators forward Kyle Turris was yet another player hit hard by the flu and he was held out of the lineup for the game against the Calgary Flames on Thursday. He'll get an extra day off from the ice, in all likelihood, ahead of the next game with the Red Wings on Saturday. I would think his return is probable, at this point.
Troy's team is catching some serious traction these days, taking advantage of those falling teams and his pool team has moved up to 16th this week, now only 7 points from the midway spot in the table. A speedy return for Turris would be ideal for further movement, especially since he could move up another couple spots with only 1 extra point.
