2018 2nd Round Draft Pick

Thursday night, saw one of the big trade chips fall, as the New York Rangers, who are in fire sale mode, dealt speedy forward Michael Grabner to the New Jersey Devils for a 2016 draft pick prospect and a 2nd round pick in this coming entry draft.

Grabner, an unrestricted free agent this summer, certainly has the ability to be an important piece to the Devils run to the playoffs, as he has been a very good asset, at both ends of the ice and his 25 goals this season is nothing to sneeze at.

The return for the Rangers is a young defenseman, with reasonable size and puck handling skills, but the knock on him, according to one scouting report, is that is skating isn't quite up to snuff yet.  Oh yes, and let's not forget about a 2nd round pick, which has been a pretty good for rentals in the last couple of years.

Well, all that is left for Steve's hockey pool team this season is the plus/minus pool, which Grabner is an asset in that department, with a +11 rating this season with the Rangers, and Steve's team is really trying to work its way out of the pool basement, 16 points behind Scott in 25th, at the start of play on Thursday night.
