Toronto sends Hal Gill (Box 23) to Pittsburgh for a 2nd round pick in 2008 and a 5th round pick in 2009.

The Penguins gained some defensive help to play with their offensive defensemen, which should make everyone a little bit better. Gill gives some size and experience and he is even on his plus/minus, which isn't a terrible stat on a Toronto team that wasn't terribly defensive in many games.
Gill still has a season left at a cost of $2.1 million, which is very feasible in the current model that the Penguins are running, but that will be re-evaluated thanks to the headline deal of the day.
The Leafs gain two more picks to add to their portfolio for the next couple summers, which is all that interim GM Cliff Fletcher was looking for.
