The Sharks have landed one of the biggest fish to feast with in Brian Campbell (Dale C.) on deadline day. Going the other way is forward Steve Bernier (non-pool) and a first round draft pick in 2008.

Steve Bernier, F | 22 | 59 | 23 | RFA |
2008 1st Round Pick |
In Campbell, the Sharks have added one of the more dynamic defensemen in the league and a guy who is looking for a long-term fit. The Sharks have been looking for a defenseman that would compliment Joe Thornton (Peter).
The Sharks are not big players when it comes to cap room for next season. Of their current roster, they have seven signed at a early total of $37 million. That doesn't mean that Campbell couldn't get a boatload, but it would mean that someone could become expendible from those seven guys who are already signed.
The Sabres have added a little bit more youth to their team in Bernier, who does have some comparison to a couple of guys they lost during the summer. Although he might not be as offensively talented, Bernier could pan out to be a centre for Thomas Vanek (Chris) or Maxim Afinogenov (Box 14), but probably won't have the upside until next season.
