Boyle signed a 6-year, $40 million deal on Monday night, which equates to an average salary/cap hit of $6.667 million per season, fifth among cap hits for defensemen next season.
Boyle has been injured for a good chunk of the season, but has managed 11 points in 17 games with the Lightning. If he was to be a little more healthy through the year, the Lightning may not have been in the same position as they are now... last in the East. Saying that, the team does have other players to look out for... Brad Richards (Dale C.) to name one.
