Jackman Won't Leave the Blues

Again, instead of a trade, the St. Louis Blues announced a signing on Monday night. They have seemingly taken Barret Jackman (Box 5) off the trade rumour mill, as they signed him to a 4-year contract extension on the eve of the trade deadline. Jackman was due to be an Unrestricted Free Agent on July 1st, but the Blues and the defender have been talking extension for some time now.

The Blues have done a good job signing up a good portion of the troops that have done well this season. GM John Davidson already has 15 players from his main 22 already signed up and he will lose the others to unrestricted free agency, which may open the door to some younger players who are signed and on the doorstep of the NHL.
