Ducks Add Their Training Camp Roster

The Anaheim Ducks had already released their rookie roster earlier in the week and now they have put together their training camp roster, to which I have now added to my tables.

The noticeable piece at the moment is that the unsigned Bobby Ryan is on the table, but is still among the bubble players, because he has yet to ink a deal with the team. The news is that both sides are talking, so a deal should be in place by the time camp opens next week, but until he's signed, he remains on the bubble.

Salary CapWith Ryan still unsigned, the Ducks currently have an annual cap hit of $46.4 million for 12 forwards, four defense and two goalies (plus one buyout).  I'm under the impression that Ryan will be in the neighbourhood of $4.5 to $5 million in his new, which would only leave their blueline to sort out.  Looking at the list of players on the training camp bubble, the Ducks could sort out the last three spots with ease, but it doesn't really instill confidence.  This situation might require a free agent still to come or a deal via trade.

I believe everyone is confident that Ryan is going to be in a Ducks uniform in camp, so there isn't much point beating around that bush anymore. The Ducks defense is going to be tested, which means it might be a long season for Jonas Hiller and Curtis McElhinney. I might be looking at discounting the goaltending going into camp, unless something else happens to that blueline.
