Elbow Bruise for Brodeur

On Wednesday night, as the Devils took on the Blackhawks, Martin Brodeur was forced to leave the game after taking a shot in a sensitive spot on his elbow, likely finding a spot that wasn't as heavily padded.  The end result was that Brodeur suffered bruising in his shoulder and will not go for the Devils on Friday night, but should only be considered out day-to-day.

It has been a really rough start to the year for Brodeur, but he's trying to turn it around with the most minutes played so far in the league.  Brodeur has already appeared in 14 games for the Devils, amassing a 3-8-1 record with 2 shutouts, which is good enough for 10 points in pool scoring this season, which isn't terrible by any stretch, it is just a little bit below general expectations of the veteran goaltender.

ImplicationsIn the draft, he was taken 13th overall by Clayton, who is currently sitting down in 17th spot, only 9 points better than last place and 23 points out of the money spots already.  Maybe a little bit of rest will be what sparks Brodeur into some better results and I expect to see him back in the net before too long, since it is only a flesh wound.
