A mild groin strain kept Chris Osgood from dressing in Calgary, as the Red Wings took on the Flames on Wednesday night. With Joey MacDonald already traveling with the team, the Box 16 goaltender didn't have to be pushed into aggravating the injury. Jimmy Howard returned from back spasms for the start, but the Red Wings will have a back-to-back situation on Friday and Saturday, as they travel to Edmonton and Vancouver.
Both Martin Hanzal and Wojtek Wolski were re-inserted into the Coyotes line-up on Wednesday night, which meant someone had to come out to make room and it was Box 9 forward Kyle Turris who drew the short straw. Turris has had a few good games already this season, but his consistency is likely what earned him the spot in the press box. Hard to say whether or not he'll be back in the line-up anytime soon.
Box 21 forward Pascal Dupuis was not in action on Wednesday night, as he was with his family expecting a new arrival, which made the coach's decision fairly easy of who Evgeni Malkin would be coming in for against the Dallas Stars. Dupuis should be back with the team shortly, which will likely mean another player will get demoted down to the minors in the coming days. Also returning to the line-up on Wednesday was Box 30 defenseman, Zbynek Michalek.
I had forgotten that I had placed Dominic Moore on the selection sheet, Box 23 to be exact, so I'm a little late letting you know he has been suffering from a groin injury of late. On Wednesday night against the Anaheim Ducks, Moore missed his third game with the injury. Apparently he had undergone some tests earlier in the week, but it didn't sound promising. He could be on the shelf for a while longer now.
