Sheet Player News (Nov 3)

With the impending return of Marian Hossa to the Blackhawks line-up, the team has decided to make room for the Slovak winger by sending Box 6 forward Ryan Potulny and non-pool forward Ben Smith down to Rockford of the AHL. Potulny, the only one of any consequence, played in two games in his recall, failing to register a point.

On Tuesday, Jeff Deslauriers did manage to clear waivers, as expected, and with that, the Oilers are now officially down to two goalies on their roster, starting with Tuesday night against the Canucks. Deslauriers will have to pass through re-entry waivers when he returns to the big club for any reason and unless every team stays healthy in the crease, he might be ripe for the picking if the time ever comes.

On Monday night, the Rangers only dressed six defensemen, leaving the 7th, Matt Gilroy, up in the press box for the night. Gilroy, a Box 30 defenseman on the sheet, will likely be rotating in and out of the Rangers line-up, until either himself or Michael Sauer step up and take on the job full-time.
