The Sabres made an emergency call-up on Saturday, bringing Jhonas Enroth back up to the big club to back up Patrick Lalime, as Ryan Miller was a scratch against the Lightning due to a lower-body injury. Apparently in the 4-2 victory over Los Angeles on Friday night, Miller felt some tightness, but finished the game and earned the win, but didn't want to tempt fate by playing again on Saturday night or even dress for that matter.
This is Miller's second bout with a lower-body injury this season, the first being a couple of weeks ago, where he didn't miss a great deal of time, but it has not helped a trying season to date. In 14 games, Miller has only chalked up a 6-6-2 record and is currently without a shutout this season. This currently situates him with only 12 points in the season, good for only 147th in pool scoring, 26th among goalies.
Without Miller in the line-up on Saturday night against Tampa Bay, the Sabres failed to come away with a win in a tight contest, which finished 2-1 for the Lightning.
There was a stretch in the season where Benson was on top of the standings, but some injury problems, including Miller, have really begun to cost his team, as they have fallen all the way down to 7th place and are already 8 points behind 4th place, the last money spot. Miller was taken 7th overall by Benson at the draft and now that he is ranked 147th, he has fallen seven rounds in value this season. That is a shocking revelation for last year's Vezina Trophy winner.
