A lower-body injury kept Ryan Miller out of the line-up on Wednesday night against the Bruins and has kept his practice workload to a minimum at the moment. The lower-body injury has been confirmed by the team, but they are adamant that the injury does not have anything to do with the groin muscles, which could be a bit more devastating to the goaltending position. He is considered day-to-day for now, but he likely won't get much for game action until he can participate in a full practice.
It hasn't been the best of starts for the Vezina Trophy winner last season, having a disappointing record of 3-5-2 with no shutouts to his name, which is only good for 6 points in the pool this year. Some may argue it is the team in front of him that is letting him down, which to a point is true, but his individual numbers have not been stellar, ranking in the middle of the pack for goals against average and save percentage.
The slow start hasn't really hurt Benson's draft team too much, although if Miller was as strong as he normally is, Benson might be running away with the lead already. Unfortunately, Benson dropped down to 2nd on Wednesday night, trailing Allan by 2 points (or a goaltender win) going into Thursday's action. Miller is Benson's 1st round pick, 7th overall, and he won't want his number one player to be out of the line-up for very long.
