Kind of flying under the radar this week was the news that Rick Nash was one of three players hurt in Wednesday night's Blue Jackets game against the Blues. Nash left the game with a lower-body injury in the third period and did not return, while Derek MacKenzie and Nikita Filatov both left the same game with the same type of injury. On Friday night against the Avalanche, both Nash and MacKenzie did not dress for the game, but Filatov was good to go and returned to the line-up.
Nash hasn't had the best of starts to the 2011 season, picking up only 10 points in the first 14 games with the Blue Jackets, hardly the numbers of a superstar forward, but the team hasn't developed offensively as a whole, so there isn't a great deal of help. The loss of Kristian Huselius from the line-up was also a pretty big hit to Nash's season.
Nash's injury is not considered to be very serious and the expectation is that Nash should be good to go when the Blue Jackets play next, which is Wednesday in Los Angeles.
Well, it sounds like the damage is done to Leon's team, as Nash has likely missed his only game with this injury, so finishing Friday night in 9th place isn't too bad, especially being only 12 points out of the money going into Saturday night's action. Leon should have a busy night and find himself back in the mix with at least 13 player games.
