The Sabres have lost the services of Drew Stafford for an indefinite period of time after suffering an upper-body injury on Friday night against the Canadiens. Details are few and far between, but it doesn't sound good for the already-downtrodden Sabres. Stafford has 4 goals and 4 assists in 14 games with the Sabres this season, but now the team will have to rely on Matt Ellis to replace that lost offense.
The Panthers will now be without Cory Stillman for the foreseeable near future, as the veteran forward suffered a shoulder injury on Friday night and will likely miss some time, although the actual length of time is still to be determined. In 11 games with the Panthers, Stillman has 1 goal and 4 assists.
The word is that the Minnesota Wild are not expecting to have Marek Zidlicky in their line-up for their game against the Blue Jackets on Saturday night, due to a lower-body injury that he suffered the night before at home to the Flames. In 10 games this season, Zidlicky has 2 goals and 4 assists.
After being the victim of Joe Thornton's blindside check to the head, David Perron will miss Saturday night's game against the Bruins with what the team is just calling headaches, not using the term concussion. Headaches are considered concussion-like symptoms, but it looks like the Blues are going to try and avoid the term as best as possible.
On Saturday afternoon, the Washington Capitals announced that they have shipped Marcus Johansson down to the Hershey Bears of the AHL. Johansson has been dealing with a hip flexor injury and has now been cleared for play, so this demotion looks to be for conditioning purposes. In 6 games with the Capitals, Johansson has only 1 goal to his credit.
