On Wednesday night against the Sabres, Devils captain Jamie Langenbrunner took a pretty bad tumble into the boards head first, but managed to finish the game and score a goal after the fact, but his post-game status was not very positive, as he was suffering from a stiff neck. The stiff neck was harsh enough to keep Langenbrunner from practice and also keep him from playing in Friday night's game against the Oilers. He is currently listed as being out day-to-day.
On a more positive note, the Devils did get the services of Martin Brodeur and Brian Rolston back in their line-up against the Oilers.
Langenbrunner has also been suffering in this Devils power outage that has been keeping the usually strong Atlantic Division team in the basement this year. The Devils captain has only scored 3 goals and 6 assists in the first 16 games with the Devils this year and an injury is not going to help those numbers or the team's winning percentage.
The Devils don't play again until Monday and there has been no word as to whether or not Langenbrunner will be healthy enough to go then.
The Devils power outage has also taken its toll on Clayton's draft team, as he currently stands down at the bottom of the standings, sitting in 18th place, 30 points out of the money and he has found more players on the injury and news page as Week Six has progressed on. Between both Brodeur and Langenbrunner, it is safe to say Clayton had bigger expectations of the Devils, but there is still plenty of time to rebound, especially in the swamp, so the season is long from over.
