Derek Roy Done for the Year

The Buffalo Sabres' 2011 season continues to get worse and worse.  On Thursday night, Roy left the game against the Panthers with a serious leg injury and on Friday, news came down that Derek Roy is indeed done for the season, as he will have to undergo surgery to repair a torn tendon in his quadricep, which will keep him out of the Sabres' line-up for the remainder of the season, with a recovery time of 4-to-6 months.

Roy has been the best player on the Sabres this season, leading all players on the team in pool scoring, with 10 goals and 25 assists in 35 games, which is unofficially good enough to be 23rd in the league in pool scoring at an even point-per-game scoring pace.

As a whole, except for Roy, the Sabres have really struggled in pool scoring this year, as most of their veterans have taken a pretty big dip in scoring, including Ryan Miller, who has 28 points and is currently 63rd in pool scoring, down from 11th in 2010.

It has been that kind of year for Dale C. in the draft this year, as he has not found a great deal of luck in his drafted team.  Roy, Dale's best player this season, has now fallen for the year and we are still six weeks until the next waiver draft.  Already, Dale sits in 18th in the standings, this could make things devastatingly worse.
