The update on Jonathan Toews' injury is somewhere between not that good and not that bad, as the Blackhawks expect to be without their captain for the next two weeks, as he battles a shoulder ailment, which he suffered on Tuesday night against the Blues. Toews left the game with the shoulder injury and didn't return to the game and the update came later on Wednesday afternoon, as to the team's expectation.
In the 2011 season to date, Toews is 2nd on the Blackhawks in pool scoring with 15 goals and 18 assists in 38 games for the team, scoring a bit under a point-per-game this season. Toews currently ranks 35th in league pool scoring this year, which was on pace to finish at a higher spot than his 2010 season, but these next two weeks will likely curb that progress, likely dropping him down below, so he'll have to have a good home stretch to bring himself back up.
As I had noted in my blog post this morning, this is going to be a pretty significant hit to Stuart G., who has Toews in the pool this season. Stuart is currently in the running for some money, sitting in 6th place, but losing one of his top forwards for a couple of weeks will likely put a speed bump into those plans. I suppose we'll wait and see, won't we?
