The Canucks will be playing back-to-back nights this weekend, Saturday at home to Tampa Bay and Sunday in Edmonton, and it appears that they will be going without Mason Raymond and Christian Ehrhoff in their line-up, likely for both games. Raymond suffered a broken thumb on Wednesday night against the Ducks and Ehrhoff took a puck in the ear, late in the same game. Raymond is considered to be out week-to-week, while Ehrhoff is day-to-day.
Raymond is enjoying a fairly good season with the Canucks thus far, playing in 25 games, scoring 7 goals and adding 11 assists, good for 117th in pool scoring going into Friday night's action. Raymond was scoring at a better pace than his career-year last season, but unfortunately, if the injury has a prolonged effect on his season, new career-highs are not likely to occur this season.
Ehrhoff, on the other hand, has been scoring at about the same rate as he was last year, but is waiting for the rest of the league to level off before he was to climb the scoring rankings, back to his position in the 2010 season. Currently, Ehrhoff sits with 4 goals and 10 assists in 26 games, good for 198th in the league in scoring, 27th among defensemen. He shouldn't be on the shelf for too long, which shouldn't hurt his numbers terribly.
The biggest impact will definitely be felt from Raymond not being in the line-up the longest, which doesn't bode well for John P., who has him in the draft this year. John currently sits 10th and on shaky ground, with teams ready to jump on his misfortune. Obviously, he hopes that Raymond can find a way back into the line-up before too long.
One of the teams chasing down John is Don D., who has Ehrhoff, but sits a little ways back, 13 points back to be exact, and the loss of Ehrhoff shouldn't be the tipping point of this chase. Don should be more worried about the teams below him catching him, more than catching up to John.
