An upper-body injury put Box 30 defenseman Mark Stuart out of the Bruins' 3-2 overtime victory over the Sabres on Tuesday night. Stuart was injured in the 1st period of the game and didn't return. Stuart has not been a great fantasy player this season, having only 2 points in 26 games this season, I don't think he was a favourite among the other candidates in the box anyways.
The Avalanche are still growing as a young team in the league and some of the growing pains are coming from some of the young players that are having trouble meeting some of the high expectations set for themselves. Brandon Yip is definitely one of those players, as the Box 8 forward was a healthy scratch on Tuesday against the Panthers, since he only has 11 points in 24 games this season. His numbers are by no means terrible, but the Avalanche have been struggling to string together some wins and consistent scoring from their depth has been questionable.
Newly-dropped Scott Gomez was the victim of an early-2nd period injury on Wednesday night, as he left the game against the Senators and didn't return. There was no early word on the exact nature of the injury, rather just listed as a lower-body injury. Gomez has been poor in the scoring columns this season, so his waiver draft drop should come as little surprise. Gomez only has 4 goals and 5 assists in 28 games this season.
