The Red Wings have already clinched their playoff spot with their win last night and now find themselves in a good spot to even rest the weary, as their 100 points should hold up for over a week, regardless of how hot the Sharks are in San Jose.
If the Red Wings are your obvious favourite to go all the way to the Finals (or win the whole thing), you may want to look over the roster (which are not line combinations) to find out what three players you will want off that team to compete for you on your playoff squad. Three is the magic number of players that you can have from any one team in the pool.
Tomas Holmstrom | Pavel Datsyuk | Henrik Zetterberg |
Kirk Maltby | Jiri Hudler | Mikael Samuelsson |
Tomas Kopecky | Valtteri Flippula | Johan Franzen |
Dallas Drake | Mark Hartigan | Aaron Downey |
Dan Cleary | Kris Draper | Darren McCarty |
Nicklas Lidstrom | Brian Rafalski |
Niklas Kronvall | Brad Stuart |
Brett Lebda | Andreas Lilja |
Chris Chelios | Derek Meech |
Dominik Hasek |
Chris Osgood |
Jimmy Howard |
It's unclear whether or not Dan Cleary (John B.) should be ready to go before the playoffs, but in all likelihood he should be. He may even see a few games at the end of the year, if his jaw has healed sufficiently for contact drills. Kris Draper (non-pool) has now been sidelined with a slight tear in his groin muscle, but the indications are that he'll be fine in a week or two.
