A Staal Has Fallen

It doesn't just seem to be just players that have constantly caught the injury bug, entire teams (like Colorado, Edmonton and Chicago) have been absolutely decimated by injuries throughout the season. Pittsburgh also seems to be one of those teams, as they can't seem to get away from injuries.

In the return of Sidney Crosby (Benson), Ryan Whitney (Stuart) and Marc-Andre Fleury (Dennis) of late, would mean that they've cleared the injury tunnel and that light at the end is nothing but daylight to bathe the team with hope. I'm sure that was the case until the second period against the Lightning last night. Jordan Staal (Box 20) became the next Penguin candidate for the injured list, as he suffered bruised ribs against the Lightning last night. Now, this may not be as serious as other injuries, like the three mentioned above, but it just gets added to the list of frustrating incidents that the Pens coaching staff has to worry about.

The Penguins play again on Thursday, away to Florida, so Staal will likely get a chance to rest his torso in hopes that he'll be able to dress for that game. Unless it's something a little more significant, he should be considered questionable for that game.
