The Predators addressed their depth on defense with the signing of unrestricted free agent defenseman Aaron Johnson on Tuesday. Johnson signed a 1-year, two-way deal, which is worth $550,000 with the big club in 2011. Johnson will likely be competing for a job on the last pairing with the team, giving a couple players a little more competition for the coming season.
In 2010, Johnson played 41 games between the Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers, scoring 4 goals and adding 6 assists between the two Alberta sides. That finished him 160th among defensemen, just outside of the realm of fantasy picking in my draft, but a great camp and a new defensive partner might be able to turn things around for him, making him into a sleeper, but wait until training camp, if you can.
