Red Wings Give Maltby One More

The Detroit Red Wings have re-signed veteran forward Kirk Maltby to a new 1-year, two-way deal, reportedly worth $525,000 with the NHL club. Maltby had 6 points in 52 games with the Red Wings in 2010, missing the last 21 games and the 12 playoff games due to shoulder surgery in late-February.

If Maltby is in fact 100% and makes the Red Wings, he will be a roster player for the 4th line, I would have to assume.  The return of Jiri Hudler and the addition of Mike Modano should be pushing the depth chart a notch down in a couple areas, plus the two-way contract almost shows little to no expectation of him making the club out of camp anyways.  I would try and avoid giving Maltby too high of a projection, if you were to give him one at all.
