On Tuesday, the Carolina Hurricanes decided to take a chance with half-price winger, Sergei Samsonov (non-pool). Samsonov only has 4 assists in 23 games this season and was a regular scratch from the Hurricanes line-up. He really hasn't panned out to be any sort of pool threat, which shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone who's been watching his decline in the last few years.
Samsonov is scheduled to earn $3.525 million this season, which now the Blackhawks and Hurricanes will split since he was picked up from the re-entry waiver wire today. He's a real bust so far this year and will probably bust in Carolina as well. But with the rash of injuries happening in Raleigh, NC, Samsonov should have a place to play for a week or two.
