On Monday, the St. Louis Blues sent down their back-up goalie, Hannu Toivonen (Box 12) and called up Marek Schwarz (non-pool) to replace him for the time being.
Toivonen has been sent to the minors for some conditioning, as their All-Star starter, Manny Legace (Wes), has been garnering a lot of attention and minutes with his quality of play over the last few weeks.
Toivonen has been a .500 goalie for the Blues this season and since the schedule is fairly easy for the Blues over the next couple weeks, it looks as though Legace will find himself getting the bulk, if not all, of the work.
Schwarz is still considered one of the better goaltending prospects in the league, maybe dropping to a few comparisons, so if he does see some action whilst up for the Blues, it may be worth noting how he fares, as he could very well be the face (or mask) of the franchise in the coming seasons.
