In the first period in Washington, Oilers defenseman Joni Pitkanen (Dennis) came up lame with a groin pull and had to leave the game. Pitkanen has had a tough season so far with injuries. He missed 13 games with a knee injury, missed another game because of a sore back and also missed a game with the flu. It doesn't seem likely that he'll go against Carolina tonight.In the 33 games he has managed to play, he has registered 13 points (6G, 7A).
