The NHL announced on Wednesday that Ilya Kovalchuk (Peter) will miss the Thrashers' last game before the All-Star break due to a 1-game suspension. Kovalchuk received the suspension after receiving a major for boarding and a game misconduct for driving Rangers defenseman Michal Rozsival (John P.) into the boards head first on Tuesday night.
Kovalchuk will serve his suspension on Thursday as his Thrashers take on the Rangers again on the back end of a home & home series. Kovalchuk will next be seen in the Skills Competition during the All-Star Game festivities and will be available for the Thrashers first game after the break against the Penguisn on the 30th.
