Another minor deal went down on Thursday between the Blackhawks and the Panthers. The Panthers acquired defenseman Magnus Johansson (non-pool) from the Blackhawks in exchange for a 7th round pick in 2009.
In 18 games with the Hawks, Johansson has registered 4 assists. The 34 year old defender has spent time both in the press box and in the minors this season. His longest stretch of games was the first 7 games of the year, where he registered 2 assists and had an even rating.
The Panthers have felt a little thin on the blueline, especially now that Branislav Mezei (non-pool) has gone down with an injury and Cory Murphy (Jeff) can't seem to shake a shoulder injury. Johansson may have some ice-time in Miami with all these problems, which could be good news for the veteran defender.
