The Rangers had some good news and some bad news before playing the Lightning last night. The good news was that Brendan Shanahan (Marcus) managed to convince head coach Tom Renney that he could play, so he did. The bad news was that they put Sean Avery (Box 21) on the injured reserve list.
Avery suffered a hand contusion in the game versus Edmonton on Saturday night and then was placed on the IR, which should keep him out of the line-up until the weekend.
The pesky forward hasn't been the offensive spark that most people expected of him this season. He has only registered 2 goals and 10 assists in 21 games, despite being paired up with some of the Rangers' top scoring veterans.
