Canucks Prospects Camp Roster

The Vancouver Canucks are hosting a prospects tournament in Penticton, BC starting this weekend and they had announced their projected roster for it a little while ago. I don't have it noted anywhere on this list, but there is a surprising number of players who are undrafted or unsigned by the Canucks who are in to fill gaps in the roster. I don't think we can expect too much from those players, but someone has to give them a shot to be a sleeper.

There are a few players that are worth keeping an eye on, but with the depth of the Canucks already showing through, it will be hard for even the best of players to make it through and then expect regular playing minutes.

Up front, the eyes will be on Cody Hodgson (pending physical with club), Jordan Schroeder and Bill Sweatt, who are the more likely three to excel through and possibly find a spot on the Canucks roster.  I think we'll see a better number crack the training camp line-up, but these three draw more attention for sure.  On the blueline,  Kevin Connauton, Taylor Ellington, Evan Oberg and Yann Sauve are who I'm interested in, possibly even Chris Tanev, and there could be room for one of these guys when the season starts, due to injury and still some cap moves.  In net, Eddie Lack is the only keeper that is Canucks property at the moment and he comes with a bit of fan fare already, but he's really only playing for a training camp spot, you would have to assume.

Definitely more to come when training camp opens in nine days.
