Chicago's Rookie Roster

The Stanley Cup champions are taking their rookies up to Toronto for a rookie tournament hosted by the Maple Leafs, which is starting this Saturday. You may notice that a number of the players on the list below my active roster are guys that the Blackhawks picked up in their fire sale deals, some of which are pretty decent prospects. This tournament will be a great chance for the Blackhawks to have a look at these guys in more of a game setting, making wiser decisions for future camp attendees.

The biggest gaps that need to be filled this Fall will be in the forward ranks, where the Blackhawks did most of their cutting back.  Kyle Beach, Chris Didomenico, Igor Makarov and Jeremy Morin are the four that really intrigue me going into this tournament.  On defense, there is only one real standout and that is Nick Leddy, who might be hard-pressed to crack the Hawks blueline, but I'm sure he'll get a good look at training camp this year.  I can't say that any of the goalies jump out at me, but one or two will probably end up in camp anyways.

It doesn't look like the Blackhawks are in bad shape going into the long-term, some of these names will get some extra development time before making the jump, which should only help them down the road.
