Wellwood to Tryout With Coyotes

Featured on Tuesday, but announced officially on Wednesday, the Coyotes have invited unrestricted free agent forward Kyle Wellwood to training camp, which opens a week from Friday. Wellwood has been skating already with some of his potential teammates in Arizona, getting a jump on trying to get some chemistry with players and give himself a leg up on the competition.

Wellwood features on my draftable free agents list, which was published on Sunday, meaning that he had enough points last season to be considered for the draft this year and a move to Phoenix might compliment that thinking for a late round pick this year.  Wellwood had 25 points in 75 games, giving him a real outside shot at a spot on a draft team, but he will likely have to come up with some early chemistry at camp to increase his stock.
