The Maple Leafs have been without off-season acquisition Tim Connolly for the last week of the preseason and training camp, as the oft-injured centre is currently dealing with an upper-body injury. The injury doesn't sound like it is too severe, but he has not skated in practice for some time now, which does cause a little bit of concern.
In the draft, Connolly belongs to Wes M., who is a perennial money contender in the pool, but has decided to take a big risk with Connolly on this side. This now puts four players of his on the injury list at the moment, with one likely to be coming off on opening night in Patrick Sharp. It might be a rough start to the season for Wes this year.
Somewhat surprising news out of Philadelphia, as the Flyers have decided to demote Brayden Schenn for the time being, as he apparently did not win a spot out of training camp. Schenn, thought to be the best prospect in any NHL camp this Fall, will have to spend at least a little while down in the minors, but there is some uncertainty as the roster does have some question marks going forward.
This is very disappointing news for Leon G., who had picked Schenn in the 12th round of the draft, 261st overall. Schenn had the potential to be picking up somewhere around 40 or 50 points this year, which would be a huge win for Leon.
