Letang Banned From Two

On Tuesday afternoon, the NHL has come down on Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Kris Letang after a boarding call in the game against the Winnipeg Jets caught the eye of the Department of Player Safety.  Letang was given a minor on the play, where he boarded Jets forward Alex Burmistrov, and since he is a repeat offender, the league gave him a 2-game suspension for his troubles.

Letang will be eligible to return to the Penguins on Saturday evening, when they are home to the New Jersey Devils.  He will miss tonight's game against the Minnesota Wild and Thursday night's game against the Montreal Canadiens.

ImplicationsIn the draft, this will be a little hiccup in the season for Scott G., who has Letang as one of his defensemen this season.  Scott currently stands in 14th spot, only 6 points out of the top five spots going into a busy Tuesday night.  The Penguins are currently working on a superstar-free diet, so there is a good chance that he won't be missing out on too much offense, especially against a defensive Wild team.
