Upper-Body Issue for Hossa

On Saturday night, the Chicago Blackhawks did not have scoring forward Marian Hossa dress for them, due to an upper-body problem, which he suffered on Thursday night against the Winnipeg Jets.  There is no real indication of what the issue might be and there doesn't seem to be a point where Hossa left the game against the Jets, meaning he finished the game, so the injury should be considered as minor.  A minor knock that likely just needed some rest, but we'll provide an update if the injury does look to be more long-term.

Hossa is off to a pretty good start in the 2012 season, having 1 goal and 2 assists in the first three games of the year, his helpers coming against the Jets, the game he was injured in.  If Hossa only misses Saturday night's game, then this isn't a big issue, but at a point-per-game to start the year, it could be a significant hole to fill down the road.

ImplicationsThankfully for Stacey C., this does appear to be a little blip on the season for Hossa and the Blackhawks, which shouldn't raise the blood pressure too high. Through Saturday's action, Stacey currently sits in 12th place, already 18 points back of 1st place, but it is his forwards that are biggest cause for concern to this point.

Stacey has only seen 14 points from his forwards to start the year, which is down near the bottom of the pool rankings to start the year.  His defense and goaltending have been good, but he'll need a spark from his forwards, if he's going to catch the top end of the pool or not let them get too far away.
