The Los Angeles Kings are expecting some big things out of Dustin Penner in the 2012 season, as he has reportedly shown up to camp in much better shape than he has before and he was feeling more comfortable with the fact that he is in Los Angeles and playing with some better players. Unfortunately, he fell to a lower-body injury earlier this week, which put his status in doubt for the opener, which came to fruition on Friday night, as he didn't dress for the Kings against the Rangers in Stockholm.
The injury is not considered to be serious, but his availability for Saturday's contest in Berlin against the Sabres is still somewhat doubtful, which is not helping his chances for better minutes with better players.
Obviously, this isn't a great start for Stuart G., who rued picking up Penner in the draft, prefacing his selection with 'I really hate this guy, but...', so you might want to consider it karma that bit him in the ass for this one.
Stuart didn't get off to a great start in the first couple of days, only picking up 2 points, but there might still be something in the tank for him on Saturday.
